The company was founded in 1933 by Mads Clausen in Denmark, according to the official website. The company was originally called Dansk Køleautomatik og Apparatfabrik.
Mads Clausen's first inventions were, among other things, thermostatic expansion valves etc
1966 Mads Clausen passed away, after which his widow Bitten became chairman of the board.
In 1946, the company changed to the shorter name Danfoss.
Over the years, the company invented a large number of products, for example a prototype of a radiator thermostat in the 1940s.
In the 2000s they merged Sauer Inc under the name Sauer-Danfoss. In addition, a number of other companies were acquired.
Today, Danfoss has more than 37,000 employees (with the acquisition of Eaton Hydraulics in 2021) and is currently the world leader in mobile and industrial hydraulics.
