"Michael, hvornår virker den igen?"

This is how the question regularly sounds from our customers around the country when they experience breakdowns of machines and plants - simply listed by different first names.

The most important thing in a production plant is to minimize downtime so that production can be up and running again as soon as possible.

Breakdowns rarely come conveniently

Any company that relies on machinery and equipment in their production processes knows how seriously a breakdown can affect their operations.

An unexpected breakdown can lead to significant financial losses, delayed delivery to customers and, in the worst case, damage to the company's reputation.

We help many companies around the country, but what can you actually do yourself to minimize downtime?

Minimize downtime in case of breakdowns

A review of your machine or plant can prevent downtime. It's just about getting it done before the problems arise. We often find that companies have not prioritized it because it is at the bottom of the to-do list, while everything is running smoothly. Therefore, make sure to review potential risks and weaknesses in the machine or in the plant.

There are various ways you can minimize downtime, and here we go over our advice:

1. Have spare parts in stock

If one of the modules on the machine is worn or has many years behind it, make sure to purchase a corresponding spare module for your stock. When one day you experience a breakdown, the module can be replaced more easily immediately. You don't have to wait for it to be ordered home. In this way, you can minimize downtime on your plant. We are happy to review your plant with you and assess which parts should be in stock.

2. Always have a backup of programs and software

This message cannot be repeated often enough. Sea always a backup of your equipment. If you have a backup, it can be transferred to a new device if the old one fails. It takes a lot more work to try to get a backup out of a faulty device - and there's no guarantee that it can be done. You can therefore save a lot of time by always having a backup.

3. Duty agreement

In some companies, a breakdown has major financial consequences for the company. In those cases, it may be worth considering a custody agreement. With one 24-hour repair service deal there is always a technician ready to go to your company in the event of a breakdown.

4. Who do you want to call?

Completely impractical, it can also be a good idea to have the number of your local specialist sitting on the notice board or saved in your phone. It can be stressful to search and call around once the machine has a breakdown.

If you follow the above advice, you are already well covered in terms of reduced downtime at your plant.
